What is remedial massage therapy?

Remedial massage is a therapeutic treatment that works your body as a whole to help release muscular tension, restore optimal muscle length and relax the mind and body.
A remedial massage is good for your niggling injuries, post injury rehabilitation, relieving muscle tension from training or not training. In simple words a remedial massage will help keep you feeling loose and more in tune with your body.

For instance, it’s ideal for your monthly body maintenance to avoid future injuries. But it can also be a great and quick solution to release pain.

The remedial massage techniques may vary upon your needs. Deep tissue, trigger points, lymphatic drainage, cross fiber friction are commonly used during a session. That’s something we’ll be assessing together during the initial consultation.

What are the benefits of Remedial Massage?

The benefits of a remedial massage are great and vary a lot. You might enjoy the quick relaxing effect, or you might prefer the deep tissue approach, add the remedial massage into your rehabilitation program post injury, or add it to your training routine.

    Come and meet Gary Javonena,
Noosa’s well loved remedial massage therapist

Remedial Massage therapist - Gary Javonena - Surf and Sport Myotherapy (683px)
I moved to Noosa in April 2019 with my wife and two kids. Prior to that, we lived in Torquay Victoria for 6 years.

There, I was working in a busy private practice with a bunch of legends who helped me become the person and practitioner I am today.

    Also, surfing is my thing.

When I’m not working you can find me at the nearest beach riding waves and, when the surf is flat, I swop my board for a mountain bike and pedal hard in Wooroi, Nambour or wherever I can have fun!

Finally, you might also see me on a jetski dressed in yellow and red on the weekends, as part of the Noosa Lifeguards team.

I’ll tell you more when we meet!

I have decided to become a myotherapist, remedial massage therapist and dry needling practitioner because in my mind, there is nothing more rewarding than helping people to get back to doing what they love and feeling healthy and happy.

Come and see us, we’re here to help!
